To maintain the simple look without seeming plain, one can sweep the pulled back hair to the side to achieve flawless elegance.
And then the funk! Spice up the simple updo by making the back very detailed.
Easiest to do when your hair is wet, sweep the front sections to the top of your head, securing it with bobby pins.
Adding hair from which ever side the front pieces are closest to, twist hair under.
Add more sections from the opposite side from which you started.
Continue your twist, adding sections at a time.
Once you reach the farthest part of your head that you want to reach, twist your hair tighter to bring it around naturally to where you can make a bun.
All hair should be twisted in by now, no sections left down.
Continue twisting your hair until all of it is twisted.
Secure the loose twist with bobby pins or a pretty clip of some sort.
Here, more specifically, I started twisting the original section over instead of under.
This made a small twist go out to the right and then I began to add more sections to create the twist you see, hiding the small original twist.
The small twist allowed me to start my bigger twist, then go to the left, up, to the right, down, and then twist my hair under the beginning of the spiral.
I secured the bun under the origin of the twist.
Tips: Leave your hair partially wet, but let it dry a bit so that you get the sectioned off look of individual strands of hair.
Don't pull your hair too tight, it will take away from the purposeful messiness of the look. (It will also probably hurt your head!)
